A Magical Birthday for Mum!

It's Mum's Birthday on Monday, but I have had to be super-prepared this year as I go in for my shoulder surgery tomorrow so think my right arm will be un-useable for at least a few days. The presents are wrapped, I've made my card to Mum, and I'm currently making Dad's for her!
The image is "Wings of Hope" from Whimsy Stamps (a Crissy Armstrong creation)- a beautiful Pegasus carousel horse! I've coloured it with Promarkers, and glittered the wings and hooves. My sentiment is also from Whimsy Stamps (Raindrop Echo).
I've used some flourishy pink and spotted blue paper from Papermania's Henbury Lane collection, some blue vellum which has been stitched with silver thread, a ribbon with heart-shaped brad (that's been hanging around the drawer forever), and some die cut flowers with gems.

Challenges:
Ooh La La Creations #73 - For Someone Special

Papertake Weekly - New Beginnings

They are having a great Blog Hop over at Papertake Weekly to celebrate their 3rd Birthday! The challenge for this week is to choose a challenge from the last 3yrs....ANY challenge!

I've chosen "New Beginnings" from 5th Jan 2010 as I have a very good friend who has FINALLY moved into a new house with her fiance after a lot of waiting for the previous owner to get out!

The image is a digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil, called "Home Tweet Home", coloured with Promarkers. I've used brown spotted paper from a Daisy & Dandelion paper pack, and my Nellie Snellen multiframe circles.

Challenges I'm entering:
Papertake Weekly - New Beginnings

Get Well Soon Mum!

A little update on Mum & Dad's holiday... Mum's knee gave way on Wednesday night, and she collapsed on the dancefloor (yes, I was wondering what tricky move she was trying that could cause such trouble). She hasn't been able to walk since...has been wheeled round the hotel in a wheelchair, although that last few days she has managed to get  onto the beach (somehow)!
They come home tomorrow, and we're going straight to the doctor to see if they can find out what's wrong & whether she needs to go for xrays etc. (Apparently the hotel medical person suspects tendon damage but can't be sure without xrays). So, here's a little card I made for her, and I'm off to the shop later for flowers.
The two papers are My Mind's Eye Summer pack, and the image is from the Daisy & Dandelion range, coloured with Promarkers. The die is Nellie Snellen mult frame circles, and I've added a little charm at the bottom.

Challenges I'm entering:
Simon Says Challenge - Move it (my little charm dangles!) You MUST go and watch the Madagascar movie clip!! It's awesome!!
ICS Challenge #83 - Sketch
Pile It On #37 - Red, yellow, brown & green

Distressed Autumn

Well, I've just come back from having a lovely time in Derby at Mum's godson's wedding. The sun was shining, the bride was beautiful, and a good day was had by all! I stayed at my Aunty's overnight (as she and her husband looked after the dogs for me while I was at the wedding). So I didn't have time to show you the card I made on Saturday for my other Uncle's birthday... I had a go at distressing (after the arrival of my Making Memories edge scraper) but wasn't quite brave enough to use the one Tim Holtz distress ink I have (as I have no foam pad thingy), so I used a little bronze inkpad instead! I also used some old handmade paper (not by me, though), and ripped the edges of that. The image is from Joanna Sheen's Pamela West Collection CD-Rom, and perfect for the time of year we're approaching! The spotted & striped papers are from Dovecraft Masculine paper pack.

Uplifting Occasion!

Another new Penny Black card from me (finally got around to doing something with my images I'd coloured in)! It's a proper girly card, and if you look at the word under the picture you'll see the title of one of the best girl's night out tunes by Cyndi Lauper!! (And there's another song lyric above the image, but not one I'd expect to hear on a night out!)
The image is called "Uplifting Occasion" which I love!! Such a funny picture and I've coloured it with my Promarkers:

I've used five different papers overall (that must be a record for me)! The bottom layer of polkadot paper came with a Forever Friends decoupage kit, the butterfly/floral is Dovecraft Glamour pack, the text paper is DCWV Text Prints paper stack, and the pink paper on the base card is Papermania Sweet Nothings, and the grey piece is Dovecraft Charcoal Prints. I used the Xcut heart border punch to made the propping-up doodah on the base card. I've made the wire word myself as it's for one of my closest friends from school. Then just a few heart/star gems and a peel-off to finish.

Tilda among the flowers!

I've finally got around to colouring one of the Tilda's I stamped in my little frenzy a few weeks ago, as I found her somewhere new to sit and watch the world go by! The flower pot is a fab die-cut from Susie and I have made the flowers myself using a punch, and distressed them with a nail file. The pink & green textured card is from DCWV scrapbook kit in a stack - I had no idea it would distress until I ripped a bit and it's got a white core! The blue paper is Papermania, the brown is Daisy & Dandelion. I also used my Sizzix flourishes sizzlit that I haven't used for AGES (if ever) for the stems and the little hearts.

Challenges I'm entering:
Creative Inspirations #31- 3 flowers, 2 papers, 1 ribbon

Happy Hen Weekend!

I'm off up to Lancaster on Saturday for the hen weekend of a friend I've known all my life. We're going to a spa hotel so with a few of her friends, and her mum & sister. Should be good! It was only her birthday on Saturday, but I've just done a card for the weekend! I know she's had a busy time at work and the wedding is 3wks on Saturday so I thought I'd give her this card to tell her to enjoy herself and relax!

The image is, I believe, a Penny Black called "Primp" (I got it with my blog candy from Kate). I thought it was the perfect picture for a girls pampering weekend!! The main paper is from Daisy & Dandelion paper pack, and the gorgeous flowers were from my latest blog candy from Jude. I've used my nestie scalloped circles and deckled rectangles, some little gems and some pearl/metal brads (bought ages ago and only recently re-discovered).

The Pink Elephant # 62 - 1 image, 2 dies (nesties), 3 fave embellishments (flowers)

Another little fairy!

After the lovely comments I received from my last fairy card (from Sliekje digi stamps) , I thought I'd do another - this time in blue!

I've used paper from the Daisy & Dandelion Picnic Patch collection, and the yellow strip of paper is from a magazine freebie. The sentiment is a die-cut and I have added little star punches with glamour dust!

"Oh look!! A bumble-bee!!"

Any other Rhod Gilbert fans? The way he said that on Michael Macintyre's Comedy Roadshow with his awesome Welsh accent made me howl!

Anyway.... here's my bumble bee - in fact a free-bee (get it??) from Dustin Pike.

I coloured him with Whispers pens, but then decided to add a bit of gel pen to make the water look wet. Then some beads on the brolly, then some zoomz, then glitter on the wings. Got a bit carried away really!!
Followed the sketch from Moving Along With The Times, but the time moved along with me and I didn't finish in time to enter their challenge! Gutted!!
